I am a big fan of this tea and had been eagerly waiting for this special edition, which has matured in wooden storage for a full 9 years. Black Box is an export grade that began production in the 1980s. Today, it is one of the most popular teas from this factory. Traditionally, a slightly lower quality of material is used, with aging in storage for about 5–6 years. Our tea, however, was produced to celebrate the anniversary of this brand, made with higher-quality material and matured for 9 years.
The traditional months-long fermentation in large piles gives this tea an intense, rich flavor with great potential for further aging.
Aroma: very attractive, mature, and strong, with notes of dark chocolate, betel nut, rare spices, chrysanthemum, meadow honey, and walnuts.
Taste: very powerful, with enormous potential. Dominated by dark chocolate, dried herbs, betel nut, and dried raspberries, with a long herbal finish.
